Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why don’t you file insurance?
A: Most insurance does not cover vaccinations and medications needed for travel.

Q: Can I file on my own?
A: Yes. We will give you a copy of your receipt that has all the proper insurance codes on it.

Q: Why can’t you tell me what I need over the phone?
A: We can! We will arrange a comprehensive telephone consultation for you at your convenience. A travel health specialist will offer advice on all of your travel health needs. Including: immunizations specific to your destination, food and water precautions, travelers diarrhea, malaria, high altitude illness, security issues and offer recommendations on appropriate supplies for your destination(s). The telephone consultation fee is only $45.  If the nurse is giving a consultation for more than one person, the fees are $45 for the first person and just $25 for each other person. This fee is good for 1 year so if you decide to come into the office at a later time, you will not be charged again.

Q: How much is this going to cost?
A: There is a $45 office charge for the first person in your group; each other person is just $25. In order to receive this discount you must come together to the same appointment. That fee is good for one year. As for the shots, they range in price from $45 to $175. We do not charge an administration fee per shot as other travel clinics do.

Q: When do I get my shots and do I have to make multiple appointments?
A: You will get all your shots in the first visit. Some shots do require more than one shot in order to achieve longer immunity. Your follow up appointments can be made while you’re in the office or we can send you a reminder postcard.

Q: I am from India so I don’t need shots to go back right?
A: WRONG! Any immunity/tolerance you may have had goes away within a few weeks after you leave. You should have shots before going back.

Q: Why can’t I go to my doctor for travel shots?
A: You can, but unless your doctor specializes in travel medicine he or she will:

  • Have to do extensive research to determine what you need
  • Probably not have the necessary documents to record your vaccines
  • Have to charge you far more due to small vaccine purchases

Q: I am traveling with a large group; do you offer onsite services?
A: Yes. We require a minimum of 10 people in order to come onsite to administer the shots. This service is available any day of the week and evenings too. We would require your group to fill out our appointment forms (which can be downloaded here on our website) and fax them to us at least 1-2 weeks prior to the date we are to come onsite.
